Course overview

This course is designed for those who wish to develop a broad range of skills to undertake supervisory or team management functions in a variety of organisations or industry contexts.

Full Time Day Course
Offered at the Broadmeadows campus.
This course is offered over 9 months in conjunction with either a Certificate IV of Marketing or a Certificate IV of Human Resources (9 months) as part of a full time course. The full course spans 2 years continuing into a Diploma of Management in conjunction with either a Diploma of Marketing, a Diploma of Human Resources Management or a Diploma of Sustainability (9 months) and culminating with an Advanced Diploma in Management in conjunction with either an Advanced Diploma of Marketing, an Advanced Diploma of Management - (Human Resource) (6 months).

Part time Night Course
This course is offered 1 nights a week over 9 months, and is suited to people working in industry who find themselves in management or supervisory roles, or who are looking to advance their career in those directions with approx.5 years workplace experience.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment as a team leader, supervisor or line manager within the organisation.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills and knowledge in financial management, leadership, managing projects, people and the ability to implement operational plans to meet organisational goals.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Frontline Management. If completed as part of the Dual Award program you will also receive a certificate for the other qualification. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course will lead to higher level studies at Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Management level.

Can I apply?

There are no set prerequisites for the full time course. You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course or have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course.

For the part-time night course you are required to be mature age and have sufficient work experience (approx. 5 years) to successfully undertake the course.

How will I be selected for this course?

All applicants will need to attend an enrolment/interview session.

How long is the course?

This is a nine month full-time course and forms part of the Advanced Diploma of Management (full course takes 2 years). Eight units of competency must be successfully completed in order to obtain the Certificate IV qualification.

The part time evening course may take nine months (1 night per week) to complete depending upon previous formal study, work and life experience.

Where and how can I study?

You will study at the Broadmeadows campus in classroom mode only on a full-time basis in the day and a part-time basis in the evening (Monday Nights).

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
