What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in a range of legal service settings including roles such as legal assistant, assistant paralegal, legal secretary, legal receptionist and legal support officer.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in the workings of today's professional legal office.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Legal Services. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course may lead to higher level studies at diploma or advanced diploma level. Credit transfers may be available into the Advanced Diploma of Legal Practice and the Diploma of Business Administration. Students may also progress to the Advanced Diploma of Justice.
Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
OR
You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to attend an information session and may also be required to undertake a written test.
How long is the course?
The course spans 6 months full-time. Part-time study may also be available.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus. Classes for semester 1, 2012 are scheduled for Monday to Thursday. You will have all-day classes on these days, with the exception of Monday where you will finish by 12:30.
This timetable may be subject to change.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.
Additional comments
These sessions will cover course requirements, fees, timetables and an entrance test. Teachers will be presenting during these information sessions.
