Course overview

This course provides team leader level training for individuals wishing to work in the logistics and supply chain industry. Successful graduates would be eligible to obtain employment in administrative, technical or support roles within the industry and would find increased opportunities in more senior supervisory roles after gaining more industry experience.

The Certificate IV in Logistics articulates directly into the Diploma of Logistics.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in a variety of logistics roles including both national and international positions. Positions can include:
Team leader warehousing /transport/supply chain operations
Team leader/supervisor logistics
Logistics coordinator
Logistics supervisor
Various inventory control roles
Humanitarian sector logistics roles

The opportunities in this field are expanding because there is high demand now to fill current vacancies and it is expected that the industry will expand exponentially for the next decade. The logistics industry is expanding throughout the whole world and the opportunities to build an exciting career, either within or outside Australia are substantial.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in warehouse operations, transport supply chain principles, occupational health and safety, dangerous goods, import and export documentation.

You will also be taught a range of skills relating to problem solving, teamwork, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self-management and technology within the logistics industry.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Logistics. This is a nationally accredited qualification.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

The Certificate IV course is a team leader level course in logistics which leads to the Diploma of Logistics at Kangan Institute. Diploma of Logistics graduates will qualify for exemptions for logistics degree studies at either Victoria University or RMIT. There are study pathways that have been developed to assist our students in obtaining a university place in degree courses if the student wants to continue their logistics education.

Can I apply?

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, applicants should have a minimum literacy and numeracy at a Year 10 level to complete this course. How will I be selected for this course?

How long is the course?

This course will be delivered over a period of 10 months.

Students with existing skills and knowledge at this level may apply for skills recognition for this qualification. Please contact the Kangan Institute Skills Store for details of the Skills Recognition process.

Where and how can I study?

The course is held at our distribution facility, Building T, Broadmeadows campus. Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.

How will I be assessed?

You will undertake various assessments to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. These may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. There is an opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information on commencing the course.

What will I study?

To attain the TLI42010 Certificate IV in Logistics participants are required to successfully complete a total of 14 units.
