What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in the graphic arts industry where you will create computer graphics and undertake page layout for publications. Other opportunities can be found in interactive media design or digital video creation.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in visual design and assembling graphics for magazine page layouts, developing 2D animation, web page graphic design, 3D modelling and video editing.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the CERTIFICATE IV IN PRINTING AND GRAPHIC ARTS (MULTIMEDIA). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course may lead to higher level studies at diploma level. Credit transfers may be available into graphic arts, mltimedia or information technology.

Can I apply?

You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course (VCAL) and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer), or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.

How do I apply?

This course is offered through VTAC, therefore full-time applications for the course must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in July.

How will I be selected for this course?

At the interview/enrolement, you will discuss course aims and the commitment needed to achieve course outcomes.

It is highly recommended that you bring a portfolio of creative work - printed or electronic.

An English comprehension test may also be necessary to assess literacy and language competency.

How long is the course?

The course spans 12 months in full-time mode. Part-time loads can be negotiated with the course coordinator.

Where and how can I study?

You will study at the Broadmeadows campus. This course is also available flexible/online.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

What will I study?

You will study graphic and visual design theory along with industry standard software: PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, DreamWeaver, Premiere, After Effects, Acrobat and 3D Studio Max.
