What employment opportunities will I have?
When you complete this course you will have the necessary qualifications to apply for a security business licence in the State of Victoria. Opportunities exist in the insurance industry and in management roles within security companies.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
On completion of the course you will understand and be able to apply the technical and operational competencies required for work in the security risk management field.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management is a qualification contained within the Asset Security Training Package..
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Graduates may continue onto the Diploma in Security Management. (Kangan Institute can offer this diploma dependant on student numbers.)

You can apply if you have access to the internet, availability to attend workshops, relevant work experience and good oral and written communication skills.
How do I apply?
To apply for this course you must fill in a direct application form which can be obtained from the institute by calling the Contact Centre on 13 TAFE (13 8233) or email enquiries@kangan.edu.au. This course has a mid-year intake.
How will I be selected for this course?
All prospective students will need to attend an interview on the 12th of July or by arrangement with the department on 9279 6138.
How long is the course?
The course is part time and willl run for a 5 month period.
Where and how can I study?
The course is offered in a mixed mode delivery format. The majority of study and coursework is done online with an additional requirement to attend two day workshops part time at Broadeadows each term (the dates will be explained on induction). The course is scheduled to run over 5 months however early completion is possible.
What costs and other fees should I expect?
Under Skills Reform each student will have to be assessed for eligibility during pre enrolment
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed on the basis of the on-line coursework that you submit as well as in face to face assessment sessions and during workshops/classes. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given information about these processes during induction.
