What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in the areas of design and drafting, including computer aided drafting (CAD), or alternatively production planning including scheduling work, estimating, working with materials handling systems, robotics, inspection, quality assurance and control, supplier evaluation, laboratory work, non-destructive testing and technical purchasing.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

At this level you would develop the technical skills to perform high-level tasks and activities. You would be engaged in drafting, design, planning, testing and other technical tasks.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

The course can provide a pathway to the Advanced Diploma of Engineering at TAFE.

Can I apply?

You can apply for the course if you are a school leaver or are unemployed. You can apply for the course with Year 12, a Certificate III trade or equivalents.

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply for this course, you must apply directly through the institute.

How will I be selected for this course?

Selection for the full-time course is based upon applicants having the minimum qualifications, Year 12 or equivalent. Selection is then based on a first come, first served basis.

How long is the course?

This is a two-year full time course or may be completed part-time.

The course is available at the Broadmeadows campus.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?

The Diploma of Engineering Advanced Trade consists of a range of competencies totalling a minimum of 1720 hours.
