This course provides the skills and knowledge for you to become competent in a range of ICT fields at Certificate IV level. The qualification has a strong Networking base and offers pathways into Advanced Diploma of Information Technology -Network Security.

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course will train you for work in a supervisory or middle management role, or assisting professionals in becoming an integration analyst, systems engineer, solutions architect or intranet engineer.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills and knowledge in preparing disaster recovery and contingency plans, installing and managing complex networks, managing complex projects, installing and configuring LAN switches and managing network security.
What qualifications will I receive?
When you successfully complete this course you will be awarded the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
You may be able to continue on to higher level studies, such as the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security) or commence the second year of an undergraduate course such as Computer Science or Information Systems at a university.
Can I apply?
You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) or an approved equivalent course and the work requirements, or if you are mature aged and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.
How do I apply?
Part time applicants may be required to apply directly to the Institute. Enquiries to us on 13 TAFE (13 8233).
How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants need to attend an interview. You may have to complete a pre-selection form and be prepared to do a written test.
How long is the course?
Two years full-time.
Where and how can I study?
This course is available both full-time and part-time at our Broadmeadows campus.
Full-time study through the day involves approximately 20 hours per week.
Where possible, the course is also offered as 'mixed mode' which is a mixture of structured classes and workshop sessions.
What costs and other fees should I expect?
Contact us on 13 TAFE (13 8233) for a fee schedule. There may be extra costs for reference books, protective clothing or specialised materials.
How will I be assessed?
You will need to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. You may be assessed by a combination of written assignments or tests, oral tests and practical assessments in class, or during a work placement. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and the how it will operate. If needed, you will have the chance for reassessment and appeal.
