What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills in designing, implementing and evaluating health and leisure for clients in residential facilities and/or community agencies and day respite centres.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the Diploma of Community Services (Lifestyle and Leisure). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework, this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

This course may lead to higher level studies in community services.

Can I apply?

The prerequisites for this course are either year 12 or equivalent, Certificate III Aged Care, Certificate IV Disability Work, Certificate IV Community Services, or relevant experience.

How will I be selected for this course?

All applicants will be required to undertake a selection criteria interview and undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment.

How long is the course?

Two years part time depending on students' prior experience in work and/or study.

Where and how can I study?

Classes are from 9am - 3pm on Wednesdays at Moonee Ponds campus. For rural applicants or those who cannot attend class - flexible delivery can be negotiated.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
