Course overview
This course is designed for those who wish to undertake management or supervisory roles across a wide range of industry sectors.
Full Time Day Course
Offered at our Broadmeadows campus.
This course is offered over 9 months in conjunction with either a Diploma of Marketing, a Diploma of Human Resources Management or a Diploma of Sustainability as part of a full time course. The full course spans 2 years incorporating underpinning Certificate IV in Frontline Management in conjunction with either a Certificate IV of Marketing or a Certificate IV of Human Resources (9 months) and culminating with an Advanced Diploma in Management in conjunction with either an Advanced Diploma of Marketing, an Advanced Diploma of Management - (Human Resource) (6 months).
Part time Night Course
This course is offered 2 nights a week over 9 months, and is suited to people with 5 - 10 years industry experience who find themselves in management or supervisory roles, or who are looking to advance their career in those directions.

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Diploma of Management (if completing as part of the Dual Award program you will also receive the other Diploma you studied).
As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at Advanced Diploma level.
Kangan Institute students who graduate with a Diploma of Management are able to take advantage of the 'pathways' arrangement with LaTrobe University. Students can receive advanced standing (credit) in the form of both priority entry and course credit points towards a bachelor qualification. Each university study unit carries a credit point value.
As of March 2010, students who have graduated with the Diploma of Management can utilise advanced standing pathways in the following bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Accounting [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (majoring in HRM or Management) [90 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (all other majors) [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (HRM) [90 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (Marketing) [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of Economics [60 credit points]
- Bachelor of Finance [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of International Business [90 credit points]
Can I apply?
You may apply if you have completed VCE or have satisfactorily completed Certificate IV in a related field, or have an approved equivalent industry skills and experience or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)
How do I apply?
This course is offered through VTAC; therefore full time applications for the course must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in July.

How will I be selected for this course?
You will be selected for this course if you have successfully completed a Certificate IV qualification or have vocational experience and possess the required level of literacy and numeracy to complete the course.
How long is the course?
This is a nine month full-time course and forms part of the Advanced Diploma of Management (Full course takes 2 years). Eight units of competency must be successfully completed in order to obtain the Certificate IV qualification.
The part time evening course may take nine months (2 nights per week) to complete depending upon previous formal study, work and life experience.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus in a classroom mode.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
