Course overview
This course is designed for those seeking a career in marketing through developing the skills and knowledge in managing a team involved in conducting marketing campaigns.
Full Time Day Course
This course is offered over 9 months in conjunction with a Diploma of Management as part of a full time course. The full course spans 2 years incorporating underpinning Certificate IV in Frontline Management in conjunction with a Certificate IV of Marketing (9 months) and culminating with an Advanced Diploma in Management in conjunction with an Advanced Diploma of Marketing. (6 months).
Although this course is offered as a dual qualification, students have the option of studying one stream or the other or both.

You will gain skills in identifying marketing opportunities, planning market research and interpreting market trends and developments around which to implement and monitor activities.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Diploma of Marketing. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at Advanced Diploma level.
Kangan Institute students who graduate with a Diploma of Marketing are able to take advantage of the 'pathways' arrangement with LaTrobe University. Students can receive advanced standing (credit) in the form of both priority entry and course credit points towards a bachelor qualification. Each university study unit carries a credit point value.
As of 03/2010, students who have graduated with the Diploma of Marketing can utilise advanced standing pathways in the following bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Accounting [60 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (majoring in Marketing) [90 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (all other majors) [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (HRM) [75 credit points]
- Bachelor of Business (Marketing) [90 credit points]
- Bachelor of Economics [60 credit points]
- Bachelor of Finance [60 credit points]
- Bachelor of International Business [90 credit points]
Can I apply?
Prerequisites apply - you must have Certificate IV in Marketing or approved equivalent course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
How do I apply?
This course is offered through VTAC; therefore full time applications for the course must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in July.

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to attend enrolment/interview session.
How long is the course?
The course spans 6 months full time.
This is a nine month full-time course and forms part of the Advanced Diploma of Marketing (Full course takes 2 years). Eight units of competency must be successfully completed in order to obtain the Diploma award.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus in classroom mode during the day.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
