What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in the graphic arts industry where you will create computer graphics, undertake page layout for publication or provide a leadership role in coordinating and managing production. Other opportunities can be found in interactive media design, instructional design or digital video creation.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in: visual design, 3D animation, instructional design, computer game concepts and project management.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the DIPLOMA OF PRINTING AND GRAPHIC ARTS (MULTIMEDIA). As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Kangan Institute students who graduate with a Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) are able to take advantage of the 'pathways' arrangement with LaTrobe University. Students can receive advanced standing (credit) in the form of both priority entry and course credit points towards a bachelor qualification. Each university study unit carries a credit point value.
As of 03/2010, students who have graduated with the Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) can utilise advanced standing pathways in the following bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Graphic Design [120 credit points]
Can I apply?
You may apply if you have satisfactorily finished a Certificate IV level qualification that meets 75% completion of ICP40205 Certificate IV in Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or credit transfers from a similar course may aid in your eligibility for the Diploma course.
How do I apply?
This course is offered through VTAC; therefore full time applications for the course must lodge their applications using the VTAC Online Application. Details of the application process can be obtained through the VTAC website or through the VTAC Guide which is available from leading newsagents and libraries in late July.
Direct application will be considered once the VTAC places have been offered and there are vacancies in the course.

How will I be selected for this course?
At the interview/enrolment you will discuss course aims and the commitment needed to achieve course outcomes.
It is highly recommended that you bring a portfolio of creative work; printed or electronic.
An English comprehension test may also be necessary to assess literacy and language competency.
Evidence you have met 75% of the outcomes equal to ICP40205 Certificate IV in Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) must be produced prior to starting the Diploma.
How long is the course?
The course spans 12 months in full time mode. Part time loads can be negotiated with the course coordinator.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus. Some units are available online.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?
You will study project management, graphic and visual design theory along with training in using industry standard software: PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, DreamWeaver, Premiere, After Effects, Acrobat and 3D Studio Max
