Course overview
This course is designed for people who are interested in enhancing their current business skills by applying business and environmental sustainability practices to their current work environment. Participants will graduate with a practical understanding of sustainability tools and solutions which they may implement immediately into their workplace.

What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in higher levels of management or positions that require involvement in and/or responsibility for sustainability initiatives. This course will also open the scope for future emerging positions.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will learn to apply a working knowledge of key sustainability concepts and to provide advice and support individuals and groups to engage in sustainability initiatives. You will also develop skills in planning for behaviour change and best business practices for sustainability within a range of contexts.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion (provided you hold an existing diploma or higher qualification) you will be awarded the Diploma of Sustainability. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
Otherwise, you will be awarded a statement of results.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at an advanced level, in particular environmental management.
Can I apply?
It is recommended that you have business experience, satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. Note: another diploma or higher qualification is required to be awarded the diploma certificate.
How do I apply?

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to be presently working in a sustainability role or have some sustainability responsibilities and presently hold a Diploma or higher qualification (in any field).
How long is the course?
The course is offered in two learning modes dependent on your previous educational experience:
1. For people already holding a diploma or higher qualification (in any field)
This course is offered through four Saturday workshops sessions culminating in a workplace based project. The course will be conducted at our Moonee Ponds campus. You will complete 5 units of competency.
2. For people who do not currently hold a diploma or higher qualification
This course will be offered through a total of eight sessions on Thursdays (four 3-hour classes in term 4, 2011 and four 3-hour classes in term 1, 2012). The course will be conducted at our Broadmeadows campus. You will cover 4 core and 3 elective units of competency.
Where and how can I study?
Our Saturday course is run at our Moonee Ponds campus - over four full day saturday sessions.
Our day time course is run at our Braodmeadows campus for eight half day sessions, plus any classes required to complet Diploma of Management as required.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods and wil involve participation in a workplace project. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.
