What costs and other fees should I expect?

What employment opportunities will I have?
This course may lead to employment in the tourism industry, in particular in the management field of travel agencies, airlines, meetings and events venues etc.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills in travel agency units like fares and ticketing or Galileo, or meetings and events units, as well as office skills and marketing.
What qualifications will I receive?
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Diploma of Tourism. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies at advanced diploma level. Credit transfers may be available into the Bachelor of Business Tourism; we have formal arrangements with La Trobe University and our students gain credits towards degrees.

Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course.
OR
You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)

How long is the course?
Individual student learning programs can be created to complete the diploma in approximately 18 months.
Classes for 2012 commence on 8th Feb with an Orientation Day for all new students, at 10am in D-118 Richards Restaurant
You do not have to bring anything with you
Time tables and all the necessary info will be provided to you on this day.
Where and how can I study?
You will study at the Broadmeadows campus full-time.
Classes are generally set between the hours of 8.30am -5.30pm for 4 days a week.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
