Course overview
This course aims to provide you with specific skills and knowledge relating to the Australian and International Trade Facilitation area.
In order to successfully complete the units, prospective students MUST be currently working in the custom or import/export industry.

What costs and other fees should I expect?
The fees for each module will vary as this is a fee for service course. The department will advise you of the fees to be paid at the enrolment session. There may be extra costs for reference materials to a maximum of $200 per semester.
What employment opportunities will I have?
This course is designed to provide the necessary skills for employment as customs brokers or import and export personnel.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will develop specific skills and knowledge relating to the Australian and International Trade Facilitation area. You will have the skills necessary for providing technical advice on matters relating to the importation and exportation of goods.
What qualifications will I receive?
Currently there is no formal qualification awarded for this course. Graduates may choose to sit for the Customs Brokers National Examination to obtain a licence for brokers to operate independently.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
On successful completion of the National Customs Brokers Course, further studies are available at degree level at various universities.
Can I apply?
You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)
In order to successfully complete the units prospective students need to be currently working in the custom or import/export industry.

How will I be selected for this course?
New students entering the course require a letter from their employer attesting that they are suitable candidates and will be supported in their studies to work towards the National Customs Brokers licence.
How long is the course?
This is a part-time course which takes three years to complete depending on the number of units taken in a semester. The length of the course will be determined on an individual basis depending upon previous formal study, work and life experience.
Where and how can I study?
This course is offered in the evenings at the Essendon campus.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

Classes are held on Mon-Thurs from 6pm-9pm at the Essendon Campus.
