What employment opportunities will I have?
The course is designed to help improve employment prospects. Many employers consider VCE as a minimum for entry level employment. The opportunity to include Vocational Education and Training (VET) elements into your study also enhances your employment opportunities.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
The course is the main qualification for entry into tertiary courses and also for general entry into skilled employment
What qualifications will I receive?
The VCE will be awarded to adult students who have completed a minimum of six units at Unit 3 and 4 (Year 12) level, plus two units of English (Units 3 and 4 recommended). Other students must complete a total of 16 Units including a minimum of eight units at unit 3 and 4 (Year 12) level including English or literature. All students wishing to apply for tertiary courses are advised to complete 10 units at unit 3 and 4 (Year 12) level including English or Literature.
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
Students who complete VCE can apply for tertiary courses in TAFE institutes and universities. The VCE is the primary method of selection into University and TAFE Institutes.
Can I apply?
You can apply as an adult student if you are 18 years of age and you left school at least 12 months ago, or if you are repeating Year 12 of the VCE in order to improve your ATAR, or if you are under 18 and have special reasons for being unable to attend a secondary college. If you are under 18, you must have a year 10 pass. Others may find it advisable to complete a bridging course before Year 11 or complete Year 11 before attempting Year 12. You will be counselled and advised on enrolment on which pathway best suits you.

How will I be selected for this course?
You will be invited to attend an information and enrolment session where you will be advised on all aspects of your VCE program. You are required to bring proof of age and citzenship to enrolment sessions. (eg. birth certificate, passport etc.) You will also be required to bring proof of previous results (year 10) or courses completed.
How long is the course?
The VCE is a 36 week course. There are 2 Semesters of 18 weeks. Year 12 (Unit 3 and 4) units run for four hours per week. Year 11 (Units 1 and 2) run for three hours per week. English Units 1 and 2 run for 4 hours per week. Evening and day classes are available. VCE Years 11 and 12 can each be completed in one year full-time or by accumulating units over a number of years.
Where and how can I study?
The course is available both full-time and part-time at the Broadmeadows campus.
How will I be assessed?
Assesments for each each unit undertaken will be made clear at the commencement of the course. A student must complete several outcomes for each unit as outlined in the unit compentencies. Usually students will complete School Assessed Coursework Tasks (such as essays) in class and also complete examinations in June and November.

This course has a mid-year entry for year 11 students.
For year 11 VCE mid-year enrolment is on Tuesday 28th at 2.00pm-4.00pm and 5.30-7.00pm as well as on Wednesday 29th June 2.00pm-4.00pm and 5.30-7.00pm, in Room J113 of the Broadmeadows campus.
What will I study?
All students must study an English subject. English is offered on several days and you are free to choose an English at a time that best suits your needs There is a broad range of both science and humanitites subjects available for your selection at both Year 11 and 12 level. Students may also include Vocational Education and Training (VET) Certificates as part of their studies.
