This course is for the motorcycle, moped or all-terrain vehicle (ATV) enthusiast who wants to get a better understanding of the operation of a motorcycle. You will also learn how to perform safe basic servicing and maintenance procedures.
You will gain a better understanding of the mechanical operation of their motorcycle, moped or ATV including the basic fundamentals and operation of a two and four stroke engine and their associated components. You will also learn how to safely select and use specialist hand tools and equipment and how to do a basic service, repair or maintenance on a motorcycle, moped or ATV.
When you have an appropriate level of skill, you may be allowed to bring your motorcycle to class to work on as a project. The Docklands campus is centrally located with easy access to public transport and within walking distance to Southern Cross station. There is no parking available at the campus however public parking is available within easy walking distance to the Docklands campus (see map).
What you receive at the completion of the course?
You will receive a Statement of Participation on successful completion of the course.
Pre-requisite & eligibility requirements
There are no prerequisites for this course however you will need to be comfortable using power tools and equipment and have a general interest in motorcycles, mopeds and ATVs.
You are required to provide and wear safety clothing and footwear such as a long sleeve shirt and pants (preferably overalls) and full covered closed shoes (preferably work boots or shoes). Personal protective equipment such as eye and hearing protection will be supplied; however you may bring your own.
Kangan Institute's main campus is located approximately 20km from the CBD. Broadmeadows houses purpose-built specialist training facilities such as the Aviation Industry Training Centre, the Transport and Logistics Centre and the Polymer Engineering Centre. It also houses the Gunung-Willam-Balluk Learning Centre for Indigenous students, as well as our fully licensed, hospitality training facility, Richards Restaurant.
The campus is a five-minute walk from the Broadmeadows Town Hall, and is directly opposite Broadmeadows Shopping Centre. Parking available on campus.
