This qualification provides students with the skills to build on engineering trade qualifications and is aimed to expand their knowledge and skills to achieve a practically focused higher level qualification in the engineering industry.

This two year full-time diploma course is designed for people who do not have trade qualifications. This full-time course contains the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication or Mechanical stream in addition to the Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade.

Teaching technical engineering skills in high-level tasks, our engineering course leads to employment in areas such as robotics and inspection.

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will be advised in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be provided with this information.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may lead to employment in the areas of design and drafting, including computer aided drafting (CAD), or alternatively production planning including scheduling work, estimating, working with materials handling systems, robotics, inspection, quality assurance and control, supplier evaluation, laboratory work, non-destructive testing and technical purchasing.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

At this level you would develop the technical skills to perform high-level tasks and activities. You would be engaged in drafting, design, planning, testing and other technical tasks.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Diploma of Engineering - Advanced Trade. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

The course can provide a pathway to the Advanced Diploma of Engineering at TAFE.
