Certificate IV in Aeroskills
When it comes to careers, although she works in the aviation industry, Rebecca Tapscott has her feet firmly on the ground.
Before starting at TAFE, Rebecca studied biological sciences at university for two years, but then realised she wanted to work with her hands. She completed a welding and fabrication course before successfully applying for an aircraft maintenance apprenticeship with Qantas, a great achievement as Qantas only hires six apprentices each year in her field.
Kangan Institute's main campus is located approximately 20km from the CBD. Broadmeadows houses purpose-built specialist training facilities such as the Aviation Industry Training Centre, the Transport and Logistics Centre and the Polymer Engineering Centre. It also houses the Gunung-Willam-Balluk Learning Centre for Indigenous students, as well as our fully licensed, hospitality training facility, Richards Restaurant.
Constructing new futures with Skills Recognition
26 June 2013
Seasoned workers who do not have a qualification are now unlocking new possibilities through Kangan Institute's Skills Recognition process.
Skills Recognition, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), formally assesses an individual's existing skills and experience against a nationally-accredited qualification, reducing the number of training units they have to undertake and ultimately helping them gain the certificate or diploma in less time and less money.
