Salon Hairdresser
Salon hairdressers cut, style, colour, straighten and permanently style hair and provide clients with hair and scalp treatments. Salon hairdressers must be able to talk to clients about their requirements, cut hair using clippers, scissors or razors, provide services such as colouring, bleaching and applying treatment. This role also requires employees to attend hairdressing seminars and training in order to keep up to date with new products and techniques.
Salon Stylist
Hair stylists use a variety of methods to enhance the beauty of clients’ hair. They perform services such as shampooing, trimming, cutting, blow drying and colouring. They also advise clients on how to manage their hair and apply design work to their hair. The hair stylist needs to communicate with their clients to determine their hair-care requirements and provide advice on how to manage it.
Colour Specialist
A colour specialist role is to change the colour of hair with reactive chemicals. Using an application tool, such as a brush or wand, the colour specialist then applies the solution that will lighten or darken the hair. Hair colourists must be great communicators in order to reach an understanding about the desired outcomes and looks for their clients. The colour specialist is also responsible for timing the process to obtain the desired results.

A company technician provides various services such as shampooing, conditioning, cutting, styling, dying, treatments, facial hair removal and wig management.
Salon Owner
The specific job duties of a salon owner can vary, usually duties include interacting with clients, hairstyling and performing other beauty procedures. Additionally, salon owners may provide aesthetic services such as waxing, makeup application and skincare. On the business side, a salon owner’s responsibilities may include accounting, staff management, marketing and salon design. The salon owner must ensure the business is clean and sanitary and confirm all employees have up-to-date licenses and certifications.
