Kangan 2012 VETiS Forum was held at the Broadmeadows campus

Kangan Institute 2012 VETiS Forum was held on Thursday 30 August 2012 at the Broadmeadows campus, organised by Garry Argent, VET in Schools coordinator.

Over 30 schools attended with VETiS coordinators and trainers amounting to approximately 60 people. Daryl Sutton from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) was our guest speaker.

There were also presentations from the Kangan Institute's VETiS unit and training departments.

Departments involved included:

  • Student Workplace Learning
  • NEXT STEP Indigenous Education Centre (IEC)
  • Hair and beauty
  • ICT and media
  • Transport and logistics
  •  Built and natural environments
  • Allied health
  • Business and Justice
  • Automotive Sport and recreation

The morning session focused on VETiS administrative processes for VETiS coordinators and the afternoon session addressed auspicing and ASQA requirements for VETiS trainers. We received very positive feedback from schools.

This was a great opportunity for school representatives to speak with Kangan Institute department representatives as well as the VCAA representative. It was also a great networking opportunity for all.

Manager of BNE Chris Arnold was one of many Kangan Institute speakers. Schools had the opportunity to visit the Broadmeadows Campus and see facilities available to students. Kangan Institute staff also had the opportunity to sit with schools to discuss auspiced programs.
