Construction begins for new Hume Tech School

Construction is officially underway for the new Hume Tech School at Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows Campus – a major milestone in the region’s commitment to future-focused education.

The occasion was celebrated onsite by Member for Broadmeadows, Kathleen Matthews-Ward MP, highlighting the Victorian Government’s investment in innovative learning spaces that prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.

Set to be completed by Term 3, 2026, the Hume Tech School will offer high-tech STEM programs to local secondary school students, with Kangan Institute as the tertiary partner.

These future-ready programs will cover areas such as advanced manufacturing, automation, healthcare, renewable energy, construction, transport and logistics, and data analytics.

Once it is operational, the school will provide programs to over 28,000 students annually from 28 secondary schools across the Hume region – one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities, with population growth projected at nearly 50% over the next two decades.

The Hume Tech School will serve as a dynamic hub for innovation, talent development, and industry collaboration, contributing to the broader transformation of the region and creating long-term opportunities for students and businesses alike.

This project builds on a decade of strategic investment in the area, including the $60 million Kangan Institute Health and Community Centre of Excellence, delivered on-time and on-budget at the Broadmeadows Campus.

The new facility is being delivered by arete Australia and Brand Architects, and project managed by TSA Riley, with a $15.47 million investment from the Victorian Government. Pilot programs with schools are expected to begin in early 2026.
