Course Overview
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we have adapted our course delivery to now encompass a combination of remote and flexible delivery methods. This includes easy to navigate online tutorials, video conferencing (classroom simulation) as well as face-to-face practical assessments and work placements – where safe and practical to implement. Our flexible model allows you to continue to study in a safe, guided and fully supported manner with continued access to all learning, personal and wellbeing supports. You will be advised by your facilitator on a case by case basis in relation to practical and work placement assessments, as some flexibility will be required during this challenging time.
All students required to attend on-site learning must be fully vaccinated in line with Kangan Institute’s Vaccination Policy
This qualification is designed to meet the needs of bricklayers currently working in bricklaying operations on residential and commercial projects. (5+ years experience)
Delivered in a flexible way that suits your work, we will come to your work site and assess you while you are working. The delivery is designed to fit in with a modern working environment including online content and workplace simulations.

Free TAFE and JobTrainer courses only: Students eligible for Free TAFE receive the tuition rate free. Students eligible for JobTrainer pay 20% of the tuition. What costs and other fees should I expect?

Can I apply?
To be eligible for this program you must have a minimum of five years experience in the bricklaying/blocklaying industry and have access to a live work site as part of this delivery.
It is also recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course.
You will also need to undertake a Pre-Training Review
Where and how can I study?
This course is delivered on your worksite in a flexible way that suits your work, we will come to your work site and assess you there while you are working. The delivery is designed to fit in with a modern working environment. If there are areas of work you have not undertaken you may be required to attend workshops at the Broadmeadows campus, these workshops are also designed to work around your work schedule with many of the dates set around the industry RDO calendar

This course offers formal training for people working in the industry.
What skills will I have when I complete this course?
You will gain skills across a number of key areas of the construction industry as well as skills in specialised tasks working with bricklaying such as constructing masonry arches, paving, basic demolition, install flashings, and basic concreting.
What qualifications will I receive?
On completion of this course, you will be awarded the nationally accredited Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying (CPC33020)
What opportunities for further studies will I have?
This course will lead to higher level studies, including the Certificate IV in Building and Construction which can assist with becoming a registered builder.

How will I be selected for this course?
All applicants will need to be currently working in the industry and have access to a live job site for assessments.
All applicants for this course will complete an assessment to evaluate their language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.
