VCE VM stands for Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major. It is an approved Year 11 and 12 pathway in Victoria that allows students to complete their VCE while focusing on practical learning and vocational skills.
VCE VM is delivered over two years and combines secondary studies with vocational education, often completed at TAFE or similar institutions. Students study Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills and Personal Development Skills, alongside a VET qualification.
VCE VM replaced VCAL in 2023 and now sits within the VCE framework, meaning students graduate with a VCE certificate. The pathway is designed for students who may not thrive in a traditional exam-focused environment.
After completing VCE VM, students can move into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, employment, or university through non-ATAR pathways.
