An allied health assistant is a support role focused on providing assistance to allied health professionals. They help ensure therapy and health services run smoothly while supporting clients to achieve health and rehabilitation goals. 

Who Do Allied Health Assistants Assist? 

Allied health assistants work under supervision of professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists. They support both practitioners and clients. 

Day to Day as an Allied Health Assistant 

Tasks may include preparing therapy areas, assisting clients during exercises, delivering components of therapy programs, recording progress and supporting group sessions. 

Study Pathways in Victoria 

Many allied health assistants complete vocational training through TAFE health services courses, or registered training providers, with a focus on practical skills and workplace-based learning.
