Cambodian delegation visits Kangan Institute to advance automotive and skills training

Kangan Institute has welcomed a senior delegation from Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training to its Docklands and Broadmeadows campuses, furthering a strategic partnership to strengthen Cambodia’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector.

This visit follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in late 2024 between Bendigo Kangan Institute, the Cambodian Ministry, and RMA Group.

The agreement aims to develop Cambodia’s automotive workforce through world-class training, modelled on Kangan Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) – the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

During the visit, delegates toured ACE at Docklands and explored opportunities to adapt its industry-led traning models for Cambodia's youth.

At Broadmeadows, the delegation visited the new Health and Community Centre of Excellence and the expanding Trades and Skills Centre, showcasing Kangan Institute's broader commitment to workforce development.

The partnership reflects Kangan Insititute's growing global footprint. Successful education models are already operating in India through the International Automobile Centre of Excellence in Gujarat.

Comments attributed to Bendigo Kangan Institute Chief Executive Officer, Sally Curtain:

"As Australia's leader in automotive and skills training, we're proud to share our expertise and world-class facilities with our Cambodian partners."

"This visit marks a significant step in our shared mission to build a skilled workforce and a future-ready vocational training sector in Cambodia."
