Once complete, the campus will have the capacity to support approximately 600 students onsite each year, and many others through flexible delivery, creating new opportunities for people in Melton and surrounding communities to train close to home.
Connecting learning, community and industry, the campus will feature:
· Specialised, industry aligned training spaces for construction and trades, digital technology, clean energy, foundation programs and more.
This includes specialist trades workshops for construction, gas fitting, welding, refrigeration and plumbing (complete with a multi‑level pipework installation), alongside an emerging technologies lab and a cybersecurity simulation space – all fitted with best practice technology.
· A dedicated student hub to bring students and the community together, complemented by a library.
· An on-site Indigenous Engagement Centre, supporting culturally safe learning and community connection.
· First Nations perspectives embedded through consultation with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation.
· A strong focus on sustainability, with the project targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating from Green Building Council Australia.
The campus will be located at the corner of Hollingsworth Drive and Ferris Road, close to Cobblebank Village and railway station, as well as nearby schools and the future hospital precinct – making it easy for students, staff and the broader community to connect.
While construction progresses, training delivery is already underway in Melton. Kangan Institute is working with Western BACE, and other partners including Lendlease, to deliver early programs that give local students a pathway into construction and digital skills.
Supported by the Victorian Government and designed by award winning firm Architectus, the Melton Campus builds on Kangan Institute’s strong track record of delivering major TAFE campus projects. It will align with Kangan Institute’s Broadmeadows Campus and the new Sunbury Campus, creating a connected network of training opportunities across Melbourne’s northwest.
