Architectus appointed to design new Melton Campus

Kangan Institute has appointed Architectus as the principal design consultants for the new $55 million TAFE campus in Cobblebank, Melton.

The campus will deliver vocational training to one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities once it is complete in 2028. With Melton’s population rising 6.6% annually, the project meets urgent demand for skills, jobs and opportunity.

Campus highlights:

-       Prime location: Corner of Hollingsworth Drive and Ferris Road, near Cobblebank Village, rail, schools and hospital.

-       Capacity: Around 800 students per year

-       Focus: High-demand skills training in construction, trades, digital technology and more.

-       Experience: Modern equipment, experienced educators and future-ready learning spaces.

Architectus will lead a team of specialist consultants and engineers – including experts in services, accessibility, acoustics and Indigenous cultural design – to create a dynamic, inclusive and future-focused learning environment.

The award-winning team brings deep experience, having worked with Kangan Institute on the $60 million Broadmeadows’ Health and Community Centre of Excellence which opened at the start of the year.

Design workshops began in July, with concept design underway. TSA Reilly has been appointed to support project delivery.

Kangan Institute was selected to build and operate the new campus based on its strong track record in priority training areas and delivering capital projects on time and on budget. With campuses in Broadmeadows and Sunbury (opening mid-2028), it’s well-placed to serve Melbourne’s north-west corridor.

Interim training is already underway in Melton as the new campus takes shape, with Kangan Institute and LendLease delivering a construction taster program for local secondary students. Further courses are in planning to be delivered at Western BACE, focused on digital technologies.
