Bendigo Kangan Institute welcomes new CEO Laura Macpherson

Bendigo Kangan Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Macpherson as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing in the role on Monday 20 October.

Laura is a proven Victorian TAFE CEO having led TAFE Gippsland through a period of strategic growth and strengthened sector impact , evidenced by election to the TAFE Directors Australia and the Victorian TAFE Association Boards. She has led whole-of-organisation business and digital transformation, influenced into government and partnered with industry and community to deliver outcomes. Laura also brings scale and system-wide experience from her time as Interim CEO at Box Hill Institute and as Executive Director, Strategy & Corporate Services, where she led major ICT and enterprise change programs. Laura is a values-driven leader with a deep commitment to collaboration and delivering great outcomes for industry partners, community and students.

This leadership transition marks an exciting chapter for Bendigo Kangan Institute and the organisation’s focus on driving growth, deepening community and industry partnerships, and strengthening impact across the regions served.

“She brings not only deep sector experience and strategic insight, but also a genuine passion for people and communities. We’re thrilled to welcome a leader who understands the heart of our vision and will help us grow our impact across Victoria.”

As one of Australia's leading and most trusted integrated skills providers, Bendigo Kangan Institute consists of four brands – regional and metropolitan TAFE brands Bendigo TAFE and Kangan Institute, skills assessment agency VETASSESS and learning management platform provider eWorks.

Laura’s leadership will continue to drive growth and impact, as BKI delivers on its 2030 Strategic Plan. Key priorities include accelerating future skills in government and industry priority sectors, and the delivery of several major infrastructure projects including:

  • Hume Tech School in 2026
  • Sunbury Campus in 2028
  • Melton Campus in 2028
