Industry-first training program between Kangan Institute, AAAA and 4WDIC

A strong connection between Kangan Institute and the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association’s specialist 4WD Industry Council, has led to the development of an exciting training opportunity in a thriving sector of the automotive industry.

The exciting and innovative 4WD industry, has long identified the opportunity to increase its workforce of well-rounded technicians. There have been only a few relevant training options to support those who want jobs in this sector.

By partnering with Kangan Institute, a new bespoke Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology program has been developed which will enable 4WD enthusiasts to take that extra step into making their passion a career.

“This truly is a unique market, and that is why the off-the-shelf training program hasn’t been fitting the bill,” says Kangan Institute Chief Executive Officer Sally Curtain.

“To support this part of the automotive industry we’ve worked together to develop a program which offers consistency, reliability and a collaborative approach from everyone involved – from the training provider, the employer and the industry.

And the result will be jobs for students, most likely in an area they are already very passionate about.”

Stuart Charity, CEO of the AAAA, said “Once again the AAAA is leading the industry with meaningful support that will help employers develop in-demand skills, which will grow their business and meet customer needs. We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Kangan on this ground-breaking initiative.”

“The 4WD Accessories Technician Program has been expertly developed by industry and education experts, led by the Australian 4WD Industry Council. It’s fantastic to see the specialist skills required to work with 4WDs being recognised with a bespoke training program.”

This course contains 20 units of competency which will be delivered over 28 sessions at the Kangan Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence, at Docklands.
