Minister OConnor launches National Skills Week at Kangan Institutes Automotive Centre of Excellence

This year's National Skills Week (26th August-1st September) was formally launched by The Hon. Brendan O'Connor, Federal Minister of Employment, Skills and Training, at Kangan Institute's Automotive Centre of Excellence on Tuesday 13th August. The Hon. Brendan O'Connor was joined by The Hon. Peter Hall, Minister for Higher Education and Skills as well as MC Brian Wexham, CEO of Skills One and Chair of WorldSkills Australia. The event, which was attended by over 300 guests from industry, TAFEs, RTOs, industry skills councils, government and members from the WorldSkills 2013 Team Australia Skillaroos, showcased a 'Skills Rhapsody' to highlight skills and trade in the VET sector. Students from Kangan Institute, NMIT, RMIT, Swinburne University of Technology, William Angliss, Crow Melbourne, Victoria University, Chisholm Institute, Auto Skills Australia and Tourism Training Australia participated in the event.
