Don’t Get Left Behind: Meet the New Aged Care Standards at Kangan Institute

The new Aged Care Act will come into effect on 1 November 2025, bringing with it the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. These standards are designed to be more robust and detailed, ensuring that aged care providers offer high-quality, person-centred care that respects the rights, dignity, and diversity of older Australians.

This means that from 1 November 2025, all aged care workers in Australia must hold a formal qualification.

At Kangan Institute, we’re supporting this transition with our Certificate III in Individual Support (Competency Certification Pathway)  (CHC30221) — a flexible, skills-based training model that recognises your experience and helps you achieve a nationally recognised qualification quickly.

For Employees

If you’re an experienced care worker (with 3+ years in residential aged care, home and community care, or disability), the CCP lets you have your skills formally recognised and fill any knowledge gaps to achieve the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) (CHC33021). The program is designed for working professionals, with rolling enrolment, flexible start dates, and a duration of just two months or more. You’ll benefit from online learning, on-campus practical sessions, and workplace assessment — all supported by accessible trainers.

For Employers

The reforms mean all staff must demonstrate minimum training and competency. The CCP helps your workforce upskill efficiently, ensuring compliance and quality care. Government-funded places may be available for eligible applicants, and the Free TAFE initiative makes training more accessible. Our workplace delivery model minimises disruption and supports ongoing professional development.

For Communities

A qualified aged care workforce means safer, more consistent care for older Australians. The CCP supports the sector’s move to greater accountability and quality, ensuring care workers are equipped to meet the new standards and deliver the best outcomes for individuals and families.
