Flexible learning at Kangan Institute is empowering educators to grow into confident leaders

Balancing work, study and life is a challenge for many professionals, but flexible learning at Kangan Institute is helping educators upskill without putting their careers on hold.

For Jennifer Stirrup, a local primary school teacher, the opportunity to study Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) at the Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury in the evenings made all the difference.

“Being able to complete my studies after work meant I could balance my professional responsibilities while continuing my learning,” she said. “It made returning to study achievable and rewarding.”

Beyond flexibility, the strong sense of community stood out. Students formed lasting connections with their peers, creating a supportive learning environment that extended well beyond the classroom. “I met a fantastic group of people during the course, and those relationships have been incredibly valuable,” she said.

High‑quality teaching also played a key role. “Our trainer, Jasmina, was exceptional. She explained concepts clearly, made learning accessible and gave feedback that really helped me grow,” she said.

The qualification has already had a meaningful impact in the workplace. Jennifer now feels more confident designing and delivering professional learning for colleagues, supporting staff during professional development sessions and working effectively with adult learners.

The experience has also helped shape her future career direction. “Studying at Kangan Institute increased my confidence and opened up conversations about a leadership pathway at my school,” she said.

With its supportive environment and flexible delivery, Kangan Institute continues to help learners build confidence, capability and clear pathways for the future.
