Sascha initially pursued a degree in teaching at university. However, she soon realised it wasn’t her true passion and decided to transition to studying midwifery.
Seeking to enhance her educational experience, Sascha followed her mother’s advice and pursed the opportunity to add a Certificate III in Pathology Collection (HLT37215) alongside her main studies.
“Pathology is a big part of nursing. It would help to enrich my skill set,” Sascha said.
Studying part-time, Sascha also manages the demands of motherhood. With four children and a fifth on the way, she balances her academic goals with the daily responsibilities of raising a young family.
“It's very hard to study, have kids and run their lives as well as have one of your own. I think it's probably the biggest struggle of any mother,” Sascha said.
Sascha’s determination and resilience has shone through in both her academic and personal life, with Sascha named Student of the Year: Certificate III in Pathology Collection (HLT37215) at Kangan Institute’s 2025 Industry Excellence Awards.
Sascha is committed to becoming the best version of herself, not just as a mother, but as an individual.
“You still have to be your own person and whatever you're doing, you wanna be the best at what you're doing,” Sascha said.
