Our Certificate II in Animal Studies is a course designed for students wanting to under study to work in a range of careers within the animal care industry (see list below) or those wanting undertake further studies in Companion Animal Studies or Veterinary Nursing.
At Kangan Institute, we provide students with the opportunity to experience a simulated work place where your will gain industry relevant skills. Our teachers have a broad range of industry skills that they bring to the classroom environment ensuring that students have relevant and current understanding of industry practices. You will gain skills in animal care management, reception duties, communication, basic animal care, hygiene, animal welfare, nutrition, Occupational Health and Safety, team work, animal handling.
This course may lead to employment in the animal care industry. Job role titles covered by this qualification may include:

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout the course, assessments may include written, oral or practical assessments. These assessments are designed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required in order to achieve this qualification. Your teacher will provide you information on how you will be assessed for each unit. We use a online Learning Platform to communicate to students, distribute learning materials and assessment. Your assessment will be required to be submitted using our Online Platform also.
There is the opportunity for re-assessment and appeal, which you can discus with your teacher.
Additional comments
This course is currently a prerequisite course for the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. We highly recommend undertaking this 6 month course as an introduction to the Animals studies field if you are interested in study to become a veterinary nursing.

Can I apply?
There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course.
As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use a online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.
If you are enrolling in this course as part of a traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Any on campus activities including any practical classes will be based from our Broadmeadows Campus.
