About
Learn the Tools of the Trade

The Certificate III in School Based Education Support (CHC30221) provides skills and knowledge on specialist communication techniques with students and teachers. This children's services course is designed for people who currently work as an Education Support Worker/Integration Aide or for those who wish to seek employment as an Education Support Worker/Integration Aide.

Our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and workplace learning.

Full time - Classes are held 2 days per week from 9:30am - 3:00pm 
Part time - Classes are held 1 evening per week from 5.30pm - 8.30pm

 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment involves both theory and practical skill assessment in the workplace. Most theory assessments are undertaken online.

What will I study?

To receive this qualification you must complete 10 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Kangan Institute based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.

All subjects in this course feature an online component. You will be supported in developing the skills necessary to undertake online learning.

What Skills will I have when I complete this course?

On successful completion of this course you will have the skills and knowledge to apply specialist communication techniques with students and teachers. You will be able to work with students with a range of learning and additional needs.

Placement Details

A minimum of 100 hours practical placement is required to be completed whilst undertaking the studies.

Before you can start your practical placement, you will need to provide the following compulsory requirements:

  • A valid Working with Children Check (Volunteer)
  • A current National Police Check

To enrol with Kangan Institute to complete this course, you are no longer mandated to have evidence of your COVID 19 Vaccination. It is important to note that as a part of your studies, you will be required to complete a placement component. While no longer mandated, individual placement hosts will be guided by their individual policies and procedures in relation to vaccination requirements for staff and students. Students who are attending a school for placement purposes will need to comply with the policies and procedures of their host service.
