AI-powered Recognition of Prior Learning

We officially launched our AI-powered Recognition of Prior Learning, making it faster and fairer for students to get credit for what they already know. The project aims to reduce administrative bottleneck and enable quicker, more consistent outcomes for learners, assessors and employers. 

More women in trades

Through strategic partnerships, we are seeing more women in trades. These projects aim to dismantle systemic barriers and create meaningful, long-term opportunities for women in industries critical to Australia’s future.

Nation-first hydrogen vehicle training pilot program

At Docklands, we led a nation-first hydrogen vehicle training pilot program, in partnership with Foton Mobility Distribution. In support of Australia’s transition to clean energy, we pioneered hydrogen vehicle training, equipping technicians for the next generation of sustainable transport.

Hume Tech School construction begins

At Broadmeadows campus, we officially commenced construction on the Hume Tech School. Set to open in 2026, the Tech School will offer high-tech STEM programs to over 28,000 students annually from 28 secondary schools across the Hume region.

Melton and Sunbury campuses

Huge progress has been made on our Sunbury and Melton campuses, with sites both locked in, and principal design consultants are currently working to design the campuses. With Melbourne’s west becoming one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, we are at the forefront of ensuring vocational education is accessible for those communities.

Kangan Institute x Cambodia

Kangan Institute, with a global footprint. This international partnership strengthens global workforce capacity by equipping Cambodian educators with automotive skills and creating industry-relevant training, positioning Victoria as a leader in transnational education.

A digital first for Victorian TAFEs

Cremorne campus officially became home to the self-accredited Advanced Diploma of Digital Innovation. This cutting-edge qualification is designed to prepare students to lead digital transformation across industries – a first for Victorian TAFEs!

Leading the nation for electric motorcycle inspection and servicing 

The future rides electric, and we led the nation with an Australian-first pilot program for electric motorcycle inspection and servicing. Kangan Institute is setting the benchmark for electric vehicle safety and servicing standards, supporting the growth of sustainable mobility in Australia.

$60 million health and care hub for Hume

Look up there – is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s our brand-new Health and Community Centre of Excellence, right in the heart of Broadmeadows! This $60 million cutting-edge facility, decked with a multi-purpose 360-degree virtual reality immersion gallery, state-of-the-art laboratories, simulation suites and 3D interactive digital anatomy functions, this centre of excellence is already boosting local healthcare education and workforce capability!

Kangan Institute takes the top honour

To wrap it all up in a big bow, Kangan Institute was named Australia’s Large Training Provider of the Year at the Australian Training Awards! This award is an amalgamation of all the hard work our students, staff, partners and community have done over the year.
