Kangan Institute expands automotive training in Cambodia with Victorian Government support

Kangan Institute has been awarded funding through the Victorian Government’s Yes to International Students Fund, to support its ongoing partnership with the Cambodian Government and enhance vocational education and training in Cambodia’s automotive centre.

Kangan Institute will use the grant to contribute to the development of the Automotive Centre of Excellence Cambodia (ACE-C) in Phnom Penh, in collaboration with the Cambodian Government and the RMA Group. This initiative will deliver targeted training and curriculum development.

The funding will support:

  • Development and delivery of vocational teacher training for Cambodian educators in the automotive TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) sector.

  • Creation of a technical language micro-credential short course, designed to help international students master the specialised vocabulary used in the global automotive industry.

  • Design of a localised car dealership advisor course, focusing on service advising, leadership, customer service, and car sales – tailored to the Cambodian market.

The ACE-C project aligns with the Victorian Government’s commitment to growing transnational education and fostering global partnerships.

Kangan Institute’s expansion into Cambodia reflects its ongoing mission to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant training that empowers students and builds global workforce capacity.

Quote attributable to Sally Curtain, CEO of Bendigo Kangan Institute:

“This funding will strengthen our partnership with Cambodia and reinforce our shared commitment to advancing vocational education.

“Our TAFE engages internationally to keep up with rapidly advancing technology and training methodology.

“Through the Automotive Centre of Excellence in Cambodia, we’re proud to continue supporting the development of a skilled workforce, empowering local educators, and creating pathways for students to thrive in the automotive industry both locally and globally.”
