Business & IT Testimonials

Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22603VIC)

After a few years in various roles – including operations and delivery driving – Sree decided it was time to return to his passion. A free TAFE course in Cybersecurity caught his eye.

“The word ‘free’ pulled me in, but once I started, I loved it from day one.” He spoke.

Sree credits his course with giving him a strong foundation in IT and Cybersecurity.

“We learned everything from how data travels through wires to networking and scripting, he explained. “Once you understand the basics, everything else starts to make sense.”

With the support of his teacher Tate – who regularly shared extra resources, Sree and his classmates began tackling real-world challenges.

“We’d help each other out, try new tools, and build confidence together,” he said.

Masoumeh Bayat

Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22603VIC)

Guided by instructors Tate and Fred, Masoumeh gained confidence through practical labs and real-world projects, including a cybersecurity hygiene assessment for an enterprise client using ACSC Essential Eight framework.

She also participated in Cyber Battle Australia – her first Capture the Flag competition – which sparked a new interest in collaborative, challenge-based learning.

“The high-quality training gave me the courage to dive in,” she said. “I’d love to see Kangan Institute form an official competition team. It would be an amazing way for students to build practical skills together.”

Masoumeh’s standout projects include a cloud attack lab simulating modern security flaws and a campus network vulnerability assessment, both of which deepened her understanding of attacker methodology and defensive strategies.

Her dedication paid off early. Four months before completing her course, Masoumeh secured a role as an Enterprise Network Engineer at Aussie Broadband.

“The mentorship at Kangan Institute gave me the confidence and skills to step into industry and thrive,” she said.

Diploma of Information Technology (Programming) (ICT50220)

After stepping away from the IT workforce for a time, Nada found herself unsure of how to re-enter the field. That’s when they discovered Kangan Institute’s pathway from Certificate IV to Diploma, offering hands-on training in industry-relevant languages and tools.

“It was the practical focus that drew me in,” Nada said.

“I needed something that would bridge the gap between theory and real-world application – and that’s exactly what the course did.”

Throughout the diploma, Nada gained experience working with APIs, databases, and debugging code. Group projects provided insight into the software development lifecycle and the realities of working in a team environment – but the journey wasn’t without its challenges.

“Balancing study with personal commitments was tough,” Nada admitted.

“But the support from the teachers made a huge difference. They didn’t just teach us how to code – they taught us how to think like developers. I learned to break down problems, read documentation, and stay calm when things didn’t work.”

Business

For Iraqi refugee Hind Yousif, studying at Kangan Institute, experiencing a work placement and gaining qualifications in Business were integral factors in enabling her to build a new life in Australia.

Hind began her business studies with a certificate III before progressing to a higher qualification, a move inspired by her passion to learn and great experience on campus.

“I love the friendly staff at Kangan Institute, the campus location, the library and the opportunity to use technology to learn rather than just papers and books. My teachers were serious about teaching but encouraged us to have fun at the same time,” she said.

“The teachers at Kangan Institute truly care about their students’ pathways and they support them in their job search once they finish studying.”

“I made friends in class, but I also made friends with my teachers who always helped if I had questions. The teachers helped me gain skills and knowledge and even helped me find a job after I finished studying.
