The VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) is a dynamic two-year program that equips students with both academic and practical skills, opening the door to a wide range of career opportunities across various industries. Whether you’re passionate about working with people, building things, or exploring the digital world, VCE VM provides a flexible and supported pathway to your future.

Delivered over four semesters, the program combines core units with accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) units. Students attend face-to-face classes at the Broadmeadows campus for core units, while VET components are delivered at their respective specialised campuses. This hands-on approach to learning helps students develop real-world skills and confidence in their chosen field.

Here are 10 exciting career paths that VCE VM can help you explore:

1. Beauty Services
Step into the world of beauty and wellness. VET units in beauty services can lead to careers as a beauty therapist, salon assistant or makeup artist.

2. Business
From administration to entrepreneurship, the business stream opens up roles such as office support, retail assistant, or small business operator.

3. Hospitality
If you enjoy working in fast-paced environments and making people feel welcome, hospitality training could lead to jobs in cafes, restaurants, or event venues.

4. Information Technology (IT)

5. Early Childhood Education

Enrolment & Entry Requirements

VCE VM offers rolling enrolments.

To enter the program, students must complete a literacy and numeracy assessment using the BKSB tool and achieve an ACSF level 3. Those who need more preparation may start with the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) before progressing to the VCE VM.

Students under 17 must also provide a letter of exemption from their home school, which the NEXT STEP office at Kangan Institute can help arrange.
