Course Overview

This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to undertake work activities in compliance with organisational procedures that prevent and control infection.

This skill set is for workers in the security sector and education and care sector who require the skills and knowledge to reduce the risk and transmission of infection while carrying out routine work activities in their job role.

Participants will gain the skills and knowledge required to undertake work activities in compliance with organisational procedures that prevent and control infection. It involves implementing standard and transmission-based precautions, identifying infection hazards, and assessing and responding to infection risks. 

This skill set has one unit of competency: BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities.

All students required to attend on-site learning must be fully vaccinated in line with Kangan Institute’s Vaccination Policy

This course is fully funded through the National Infection Control Fund for eligible participants.

  • Questioning – self-marking quizzes
  • Product – video performance evidence in the workplace
  • Third Party Reports from workplace supervisor
  • Completion of Hand Hygiene online module

Can I apply?

You will need to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment.

Participants must not have previously completed this Skill Set or any other Infection Control Skill Sets.

Where and how can I study?

This course is delivered via a combination of online, workplace or home and simulation. If you are unable to meet all the assessment requirements in the workplace, you will be required to attend simulated practical skill development and assessment on campus - 3 hour session.

You will receive an accredited Statement of Attainment.
